WHAT ARE GUYS NAMED SCOTT THE KNIFE, BIG ANT, AND ALLEY CAT DOING AT A DOG WALK FESTIVAL?

Rescue Ink, who “Ain’t Your Mother’s Rescue Group”, are the Honorary Chairpersons for the 2nd Annual Tail Waggers Strut.

Washington Crossing, PA, April 2011 – Rescue Ink, the tattooed, motorcycle-riding rescue group from New York and featured on the National Geographic Channel, have agreed to serve as the honorary chairpersons for the annual dog walk festival hosted by The Crossings Animal Sanctuary. The 2nd Annual Tail Waggers Strut will take place at Shady Brook Farm on Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The proceeds will be used exclusively to acquire land, build, and operate Bucks County’s first no-kill animal sanctuary.

On hand throughout the day will be Rescue Ink members Joe Panz, Big Ant, Johnny O, Eric B, Big John, Big Mike, Scott the Knife, Jimmy the Iron Bull, Stevie D, and Alley Cat. Rescue Ink was formed to aid in battling animal abuse and neglect, and to assist existing animal welfare agencies and shelters. For their dedication to rescuing, training, and assisting with the medical needs of abused and neglected dogs and cats, toward the close of the festival The Crossings Animal Sanctuary will present Rescue Ink with the 1st Annual “Phenomenal Achievement in Animal Welfare” (PAAW) Award.

Last year’s Tail Waggers Strut brought over 800 walkers and raised $65,000. This year’s goal is 1,000 walkers with their 4-legged companions, who will help raise $100,000 for the CAS’ Sanctuary Building Fund.

This year’s festival will also introduce a SuperAdoption event. Local rescue organizations will bring over 60 dogs and cats available for adoption. As a result of this one-day event, most of these pets will hopefully find loving, forever homes.

At the festival field at Shady Brook Farm, the staging area for The Strut, over 60 vendors will exhibit pet products and services, crafts, and jewelry. A food court will offer lunch, snacks, and desserts. Special events will occur throughout the day, featuring demonstrations by Kruisin’ Kanines dog agility training and the Lower Makefield Police Department K-9 Unit; musical entertainment; and a special “Blessing of the Animals.” On hand for the children will be a roving magician, a stilt walker, the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo, and Red from Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.

A special guest joining us for the 2nd Annual Tail Waggers Strut is author of "The Animal Fairy", Yardley, PA’s Shelley Abrams. Ms. Abrams, a dedicated advocate of animal welfare, will be signing copies of her book.

The Tail Waggers Strut dog walk is 4 miles. Adults and teens can walk as individuals, participate in teams, or can walk as a family. There is also a 2-mile walk for elementary school children, called “Kids Can, Too!”.

Walkers can register online at www.TheCrossingsAnimalSanctuary.org, by mailing in their registration, or by calling The Crossings Animal Sanctuary at (215) 321-4673.

The Animal Fairy! This New Children’s Book Is Designed To Help Teach Children Compassion At An Early Age Through The Positive Interaction With Animals And Is A Must For All Parents Looking For Ways To Inspire Empathy and Kindness In Their Children.

Yardley, PA April 19th, 2011. In her debut children’s book, author and local resident Shelley Abrams will be signing the new children’s book, “The Animal Fairy” at this year’s 2nd Annual Tail Waggers Strut on Sunday May 15th 2011 at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley, PA.

An avid animal lover, Abrams was inspired by The Crossings Animal Sanctuary’s goal to build Bucks County’s first no-kill animal sanctuary and participated herself in the Tail Waggers Strut last year. Abrams was all set to walk for the cause again this year when she received a call from The Crossings Animal Sanctuary to participate in a book signing once they learned she was a local resident of Yardley.

“The Animal Fairy” written by Shelley Abrams and illustrated by Susie Weber introduces a new loveable creature who is empowered to help animals. “It’s a very exciting concept and I’m thrilled to be involved by writing his story”, said Shelley Abrams, author of the book. “Helping children learn about animals in need is a dream come true and a story that must be told”, Abrams added.

Animal Fairy Charities, Inc. seeks to promote compassion amongst children and is asking Yardley, PA and the surrounding areas for their support on May 15th, 2011. Author Shelley Abrams will be signing copies of The Animal Fairy. She will discuss what it means to see the book in parents and children’s hands. Dialogue is encouraged and parents are encouraged to bring their children.

About The Author
As a lifelong animal lover, Shelley Abrams was enchanted when first introduced to the Animal Fairy Character and embraced the idea when asked to author his story. "Helping children learn about animals in need is a dream come true. It's a story that must be told" said Abrams. Dogs, cats and horses have remained a constant in Shelley's life. In 2004, she bought her first race horse and created Smarty’s Gift Stables. Realizing that many thoroughbreds needed a second chance after their racing days were over, Smarty’s Gift Stables launched a program that has rescued and helped to rehome dozens of horses. She continues to campaign in support of animal welfare reform.
